In a move aimed at enhancing infrastructure, improving road connectivity, and upgrading the quality of living, the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, Epe, convened a stakeholders’ engagement meeting earlier today at the Itoikin community. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the construction of the Lagbeja-Agric Road in the community.
Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Areh AbdulHamid O, disclosed this on Monday.
During the meeting, vital discussions and clarifications were made to ensure the smooth completion of the road construction project. The Lagbeja-Agric Road, spanning a length of 418 meters and measuring 7.3 meters wide, is a major diversion aimed at decongesting traffic on the expressway. It also serves as a feeder road for many streets in the community.
Funded entirely by Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, the Lagbeja-Agric Road project holds historical significance as it marks the first road construction initiative undertaken by the LCDA in Ward R1 since its establishment. Upon completion, it will stand as the first tarred road in the entire Itoikin Community.
The contractor handling the construction, O&S Nig. Ltd., has been given a timeline of six months to complete the project, which they promised to deliver with excellence. Interlocking tiles have been chosen as the preferred surface for the road, ensuring durability, longevity, and the safety of residents, with drainage channels planned for both sides.
Addressing the gathering, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, emphasized the importance of community engagement and congratulated residents for the infrastructure initiative. He urged cooperation with the contractors and highlighted the economic benefits of patronizing local material suppliers and creating employment opportunities for youth within the community.
Hon. Rasheed Raji, Chairmanship Candidate of the PDP in the last Local Government election, praised the administration for its transformative efforts, while Mr. Jaiyesimi Ibraheem, Ward Chairman, APC Ward R1, acknowledged this as the first road construction project initiated by the LCDA in almost 21 years.
Residents expressed optimism for the impending transformation and economic benefits the road will bring, showcasing hope for improved connectivity and infrastructure, enhancing their daily lives and overall well-being.
