Taiwo Fadipe, who served diligently as the Chief Press Secretary, passed away suddenly in December 2023 after a brief illness. Until recently, his official WhatsApp number remained active, believed to be managed by his wife. However, on Monday afternoon, she exited multiple WhatsApp groups simultaneously, raising questions among friends and associates.

Several of Fadipe’s friends and colleagues have claimed that he was abandoned by Kosofe Local Government during his illness and that no substantial support has been extended to his immediate family since his passing.

In response to these allegations, Taiwo Oluwole, the Acting Chief Press Secretary and Head of the Information Unit at Kosofe Local Government, issued a statement through Mrs. Adewunmi Toluwase, the Head of Public Affairs, denying the claims. “The Kosofe Local Government did not abandon the late Fadipe’s family,” Toluwase stated. She highlighted that the Chairman had invited Fadipe’s wife and children to his residence and promised a scholarship for the children. In March 2024, the Chairman requested the school receipt to refund the tuition fees for Fadipe’s undergraduate son at Olabisi Onabanjo University, among other forms of support.

Additionally, Ayo Dele Ayeyemi, Chairman of the Conference 57 Chief Press Secretaries in Lagos, when contacted, refrained from discussing the internal support mechanisms for Fadipe, stating, “Even if we do support, we wouldn’t make such matters public.”
