Mogaji Wole Arisekola, publisher of Street Journal magazine and President of the Association of Online Media Practitioners, has praised Aliko Dangote’s media strategy, calling it a powerful PR move against the Nigerian government. Arisekola made these remarks on Tuesday, addressing the ongoing challenges between Dangote and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Arisekola highlighted Dangote’s media acumen, noting, “A smart Aliko Dangote, a week before his recent outburst, hosted all the powerful media houses at his refinery, taking them around his company. He knows the power of media and PR and is managed by the best PR manager in Nigeria.”
Dangote’s strategic media engagement paid off when he launched his initial critique, which quickly went viral, leaving his opponents scrambling. “If not for Aliko and NNPC sheathing their swords, next week would have been brutal because, for the past 72 hours, only Aliko’s matters have been trending on the Internet,” Arisekola observed. He further warned of potential unrest, saying, “The enemies of progress would have unleashed their anger on the NNPC staff and their facilities under the guise of protesting.”
While expressing support for President Tinubu, Arisekola advised swift action to reorganize the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). “A stitch in time saves nine,” he added, urging immediate reforms to prevent further conflicts.
