Mayor Dele Oshinowo, the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has empowered 1,000 individuals with ₦50,000 each with the aim of alleviating poverty and uplifting vulnerable residents. The initiative was unveiled during the “WeLift Community Empowerment Initiative,” which took place on Thursday in Lagos.

At the event, Oshinowo highlighted the council’s ongoing commitment to fostering economic opportunities and improving the livelihoods of the most vulnerable members of the community. He revealed that his administration had disbursed ₦125 million this year alone and had spent a total of ₦300 million over the past seven years on similar initiatives.

“This initiative is not just about financial assistance; it’s about dignity, empowerment, and opportunity,” Oshinowo stated. “Our goal is to create a prosperous and inclusive society where everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive. This grant is more than just financial relief—it’s a tool for self-upliftment.”

Oshinowo emphasized that the relief effort was aimed at those who needed it most, with beneficiaries carefully selected through a thorough process involving key community bodies like the Community Development Association, the Christian Association of Nigeria, the League of Imams, and local market leaders.
