Mr. Taiwo Lasisi, President of the Taawun Political Forum (TPF) Lagos State Chapter, has called on Nigerians to celebrate the nation’s greatness and commit to its progress as the country marks its 64th Independence anniversary. Speaking at the TPF’s 2nd Annual Lecture and Award Ceremony held at Emmanuel Nursery and Primary School in Kosofe Local Government Area on Tuesday, Lasisi emphasized the importance of unity and proactive efforts toward Nigeria’s development.
Lasisi highlighted that the purpose of the Independence Day celebration was not only to reflect on Nigeria’s journey but also to create awareness of the forum’s humanitarian work in Lagos. “As Nigeria celebrates 64 years, we are showcasing its greatness and sensitizing the public that Nigeria shall be great. Our responsibility is to contribute to this greatness,” Lasisi said in his address to newsmen.
He stressed that achieving Nigeria’s full potential requires active support for the government at all levels. “How can we do that? By supporting the government—working in unity with government agencies, the president, governors, local chairmen, and others. Additionally, we must provide for the people’s needs, addressing hunger through palliatives, as our forum does in Lagos State,” Lasisi explained.
The TPF president urged Nigerian youths to avoid destructive behaviors such as hooliganism, vandalism, and unproductive protests. He appealed for patience with the current administration, expressing optimism that the government under President Bola Tinubu would soon deliver the dividends of democracy.
Lasisi also called on the youth to unite and actively contribute to society. “It’s not just about what the government can do for us. We, too, must play our part in helping the populace and advancing humanity, just as we do in the forum,” he added.
