Residents of Kosofe have voiced strong reactions against prominent APC stalwart, Oloye Oluwaseun Salami, urging him to stop defending government policies they deem harmful to the masses. Comrade Amos Ojajuni, a resident and local activist, praised Salami for his resilience but warned him against justifying actions of a government that, in his view, has failed the people.

The tension arose following a statement by Salami on Saturday, where he likened his political journey to Muhammad Ali’s boxing strategy. Salami, who has faced criticism from both political allies and adversaries, declared, “I am a product of insults.” He described politics as a game of numbers and common sense, comparing his approach to Ali’s ability to frustrate and outmaneuver opponents.

Salami’s remarks, however, drew criticism from Ojajuni. “Your resilience is inspiring, but defending harmful government policies at all times is wrong. The masses are suffering while those in power, including you, live extravagantly,” Ojajuni said.

Ojajuni was not alone in his critique. Another Kosofe resident, Engr. Olusola Emmanuel Adedayo, highlighted Salami’s history of public insults toward prominent figures in the area. He noted that Salami’s recent comments reflected his tendency to attack others with impunity, naming several local leaders who have been targets of his rhetoric.

Salami remains undeterred, insisting that insults are part of the political game and serve as motivation in his mission to improve the lives of Nigerians through sound policies.

However, residents continue to call for accountability, reminding him of the growing discontent with the government’s performance.
