Tensions have escalated in Kosofe Local Government following a viral open letter by former Executive Secretary, Hon. Gbemisola Ketiku, criticizing the deplorable state of roads in Ifako, Kosofe. Ketiku’s letter, which voiced the frustrations of local residents, has sparked a heated exchange with the Council Chairman, Moyosore Ogunlewe.

In a text purportedly from Ogunlewe’s office, the chairman accused Ketiku of receiving monthly stipends from the council without showing appreciation. “The administration has never received an appreciation letter from you,” the message reads. It also mentioned financial support the chairman had allegedly provided for Ketiku’s daughter’s wedding, questioning her contribution during her tenure as Executive Secretary.

Responding firmly, Ketiku urged the chairman to halt her ₦50,000 monthly stipend, stating, “Your supporters so hyped [it] that it will erode my self-esteem not to demand better infrastructure for my ward.” He insisted his push for improved infrastructure should not be overshadowed by personal allowances.

The exchange has drawn attention to the ongoing issues of poor road infrastructure in Ifako, raising questions about governance and accountability in Kosofe. Residents now wait to see whether the local authorities will address the root cause of the frustrations—the long-neglected roads.
