At a recent general assembly of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Kosofe, celebrations erupted as the council chairman, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, distributed ₦5,000 tokens to 70 beneficiaries.
The meeting, held at the council secretariat, took an electrifying turn when supporters of the chairman disrupted proceedings, chanting, “PSB! Leekansi!”—a Yoruba phrase urging her re-election. In response, backers of other chairmanship aspirants also took to the spotlight, singing praises for their preferred candidates.
This fervor unfolded amidst lingering uncertainty over the political future of LCDA leadership. The Lagos State House of Assembly is currently considering amendments to local government administration laws, which may transition LCDAs into administrative councils led by appointed heads, rather than elected officials.
Despite the uncertainty, aspirants for the 2025 chairmanship elections continue to quietly rally support, using political publicity and grassroots campaigns to position themselves as potential candidates under the APC banner.
