The Lagos State House of Assembly has ordered all staff and legislative aides to work remotely indefinitely amid an ongoing leadership crisis, raising concerns about governance stability in the state.
In a memo issued by Acting Clerk Mr. Babatunde Ottun Abubakar, the Assembly cited safety concerns as the reason for the directive. Titled “Amendment to Remote Work Schedule Arrangement,” the memo urged all categories of staff, including those in the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission (LAHASCOM), to work from home until further notice.

The crisis follows the emergence of Rt. Hon. (Princess) Lasbat Mojisola Meranda as the new Speaker, a development that has reportedly fueled tensions within the legislative body. The memo assured staff of the Speaker’s commitment to their safety and a peaceful resolution of the leadership dispute.
