The political landscape of Kosofe Local Government has been thrown into turmoil following a petition submitted to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) against the embattled Executive Chairman, Mr. Moyosore Ogunlewe. The petition, filed by an aggrieved cabinet member, Ganiu Oyebanjo, has raised eyebrows and sparked widespread speculation on who might be backing Oyebanjo’s bold move.
At the center of the controversy is Rabiu Olayinka-Whytee, a prominent chairmanship aspirant for Kosofe in the upcoming July 2025 local government election. Supporters of Chairman Ogunlewe have accused Whytee of masterminding the petition to discredit the incumbent and pave the way for his political ambition. However, sources close to Whytee have denied any involvement, with his campaign team yet to issue an official statement on the matter.

Another theory gaining traction is that Oyebanjo and Whytee are working together and may be eyeing a joint ticket for the upcoming election. However, political insiders suggest that Oyebanjo’s fearless and outspoken nature makes him capable of challenging perceived injustices without external influence.
While some of Oyebanjo’s colleagues initially supported his move, many have since distanced themselves due to political interests and personal affiliations. Yet, political analysts believe that the ICPC’s investigation could unearth deeper issues of corruption and implicate several party leaders within the local government.
As Kosofe residents await the outcome of the probe, the question remains: Is Oyebanjo acting alone, or is he the face of a larger political game plan?
