A prominent political figure in Kosofe Local Government, Ibrahim Adisa Mustapha, has demanded a public retraction, an apology, and ₦100 million in damages over what he claims to be a defamatory publication.

Mustapha, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and well-known grassroots politician, issued the demand through his legal representatives, Lords & Temple. The dispute centers on a publication titled Operation Time Pass, which was circulated on various media platforms, alleging that he misused public funds. The report claimed Mustapha purchased a Toyota Camry using council funds to influence his re-election bid, an allegation his lawyers insist is entirely false and politically motivated.

MUSTAPHA-VS-OYEBANJO

In a legal notice addressed to Mr. Ganiyu Oyebanjo, who is believed to be behind the allegations, Mustapha’s legal team described the publication as an “injurious falsehood” intended to tarnish his political reputation. They argue that the accusations were a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and damage his credibility.

The notice also accuses Oyebanjo of sharing photos of Mustapha’s car and license plate on social media, allegedly to incite public outrage against him. His lawyers claim this act amounts to a criminal breach of privacy and a threat to his personal safety.

Mustapha has given Oyebanjo 14 days to retract the statements and publish a public apology in at least two major newspapers and multiple online platforms. The letter warns that failure to comply will result in legal action seeking exemplary damages.

As of press time, Oyebanjo has not publicly responded to the allegations. The case has stirred discussions within Lagos political circles, with observers keenly watching for further developments.
