The O.S.O Community Development Association (CDA) in Anthony Village, Kosofe Local Government Area, has reiterated its commitment to community security and environmental hygiene during its general meeting held on Saturday at Mama Alero Flowers Gardens.

Addressing members at the meeting, CDA Chairman Mr. Olalekan Odujirin urged residents within and around the community to take collective responsibility for ensuring safety and order. “See something, say it, and act,” he said, emphasizing that security thrives when residents are vigilant and proactive.

Odujirin raised concerns over the activities of scavengers and scrap metal dealers—popularly known as Bolar—who, he noted, have turned some streets into makeshift workshops and trading areas. He warned that such activities not only pose security threats but also create environmental challenges that could affect residents’ well-being.

The CDA also discussed the need for proper refuse disposal in accordance with Lagos State government regulations. Residents were reminded that indiscriminate dumping of waste could lead to health hazards and undermine efforts to maintain a clean and livable environment.

Often referred to as the fourth tier of government, CDAs in Lagos State play a crucial role in grassroots governance. Their responsibilities include driving community development, representing residents’ interests, maintaining peace, monitoring public projects, and encouraging active citizen participation.

The meeting concluded with a renewed call for unity and cooperation among residents in tackling shared challenges within the community.
