Ambassador Moyosore Anuoluwapo Badejo, popularly known as MOG (Moyo of Gbagada), has criticised the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for failing to release the timetable and guidelines for the upcoming local government elections scheduled for July.

Badejo, who is contesting for councillor under the Labour Party in Ifako-Gbagada, Kosofe Local Government Area, described the commission’s silence as “suspicious and unacceptable,” questioning LASIEC’s neutrality and preparedness to conduct credible polls.

“With less than three months to the end of the current local government administration’s tenure, LASIEC’s failure to provide a roadmap for the elections is a blatant disregard for democratic principles,” he said in a statement issued over the weekend.

He alleged that the delay may be a deliberate attempt to favour the ruling party, warning that such actions could weaken the democratic process and create an uneven playing field for opposition candidates.

“Despite these tactics, I remain focused and committed to the people of Gbagada. No amount of delay or manipulation will shake my resolve to serve,” Badejo added.

The aspirant urged the electoral commission to release the necessary guidelines without further delay to allow all political parties adequate time to prepare.

“The time to act is now — democracy must not be reduced to a game of advantage for the few,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, LASIEC is yet to issue an official timetable for the July local government polls.
