Former Senator representing Lagos East, Dr. Adeleke Mamora, has described the ongoing commissioning of projects in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) as a clear sign of progressive governance and development.

Mamora made the remarks on Wednesday, during Day 3 of a week-long commissioning exercise to unveil 20 transformational projects across the LCDA. He was represented at the event by the council’s former Executive Secretary, Hon. Afolabi Kazeem.

“L–R: Representative of former Lagos East Senator Dr. Adeleke Mamora, Hon. Afolabi Kazeem; Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Chairperson, Princess Samiat Bada; former Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Hon. Yetunde Arobieke; and the Council Manager at the commissioning event held on April 16, 2025.”

While commending the efforts of the council chairperson, Princess Samiat Bada, Mamora noted that although the developmental strides were commendable, there were still areas requiring urgent attention.

“There are still schools begging for attention, other roads yet to be fixed, and even though health centres have been improved, there may still be one or two clinics needing intervention,” he said.

Mamora also emphasized the need for increased focus on grassroots sports development, stressing that youth engagement through football and other sports should not be neglected.

“We will continue to encourage her, sit her down, advise her on critical areas, and support her to do more,” he added. “This is what good governance is about — fixing roads, improving healthcare, and making the environment more beautiful and accommodating.”

Earlier in her address, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Semiat Bada, explained that the decision to reconstruct five key streets was in direct response to pleas from community members.

“These streets were once a burden — battered by erosion, prone to flooding, and a daily source of stress. Today, they stand renewed — solid, clean, and ready to serve,” she said.

Streets commissioned so far include Oba Onikosi Drive Phases I & II, Atinmo Street, Olabisi Balogun Street, Ogunkoya Street, and Adeyomoye Street. According to Bada, each project reflects the council’s commitment to responsive governance and people-centred planning.

“By the end of this week, we would have unveiled 20 projects aimed at uplifting our people, empowering our communities, and changing the story of Ikosi-Isheri for good,” she said.

The commissioning continues as residents laud the transformation taking shape across the LCDA.
