Renowned Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Hon. Kunle Soname, is receiving renewed recognition for his understated lifestyle and significant contributions to business and sports, particularly football development.

A recent social media post by Sroc Partner reignited public admiration for Soname’s impressive achievements. Best known as the founder of Bet9ja, Nigeria’s leading sports betting platform, Soname’s business acumen has long been noted. A 2016 report by KPMG estimated Bet9ja’s monthly turnover at $10 million.

Beyond the betting industry, Soname’s portfolio includes ownership of ValueJet, a private airline; Portuguese football club CD Feirense; and Nigerian clubs Remo Stars and Beyond Limits FC. His influence in youth football development continues to yield international attention.

In 2024, Remo Stars completed the transfer of Shola Ogundana to Brazilian giants Flamengo for $500,000. The year prior, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro was signed by Inter Milan U-19 for €466,000—further evidence of Soname’s growing reputation in nurturing football talent.

Soname, who once served as the pioneer Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA in Kosofe, Lagos State, has been widely commended for his quiet impact, especially in an era where flamboyance dominates digital platforms.

“You won’t see this kind of person on social media shouting ‘money na water’,” the post noted, contrasting Soname’s modesty with the lavish lifestyles often showcased online.

His continued preference for low-profile influence and sustainable development has sparked fresh conversations around leadership, wealth, and legacy in Nigeria’s business and sports circles.
