A chairmanship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Prince Shakiru Balogun, has pledged to prioritise sustainable development and inclusive governance if elected.

Balogun made the commitment during an exclusive interview with Kosofe Post at the APC screening exercise for chairmanship aspirants held at the party’s secretariat on Wednesday.

According to the aspirant, his mission is to improve the quality of life for residents by transforming the various communities within Agboyi-Ketu into vibrant, economically viable hubs aligned with sustainable development goals.

“If elected, I will focus on creating a conducive environment for business, transportation, and trading. We must empower our people through economic growth,” Balogun said.

He noted that the LCDA’s proximity to water bodies presented an untapped opportunity for mechanised aquaculture. “We are exploring large-scale fish farming for export. This will not only create jobs but also generate revenue for the council,” he added.

Balogun, who described himself as the most popular aspirant in the area, emphasised his deep connection with the community. “I was born and raised in Agboyi-Ketu. My family founded this community over 250 years ago. I know the people, their needs, and how to solve their problems,” he stated.

Outlining his agenda, the APC aspirant promised to provide free and accessible healthcare, youth-focused job creation, infrastructural development, and skill-based education. He also promised to support traders with financial grants to help them remain in business.

To ensure transparency and accountability in his administration, Balogun pledged to operate an open-door policy and involve stakeholders in decision-making processes.

“I will bring all stakeholders on board. Everyone must be part of the decisions that affect them. That is how we will build trust and ensure inclusive governance,” he said.

Balogun reaffirmed his commitment to public service, stating that his campaign is driven by genuine concern for the people of Agboyi-Ketu and a desire to deliver meaningful development.
