Nigerian-American businessman and philanthropist, Mr. Taiwo Tugbobo, has been conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title of Arogundade by Egbe Obayori Okunrin (Asiwaju) Akile Ijebu, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the socio-cultural advancement of the group.

The colourful conferment ceremony took place during the annual Ojude Oba Get-Together at BISROD Heritage Hall, Housing, Ijebu-Ode, on the third day of the Eid-el-Kabir (Ileya) celebration. The event was preceded by traditional rites conducted at the private residence of Giwa Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, leader of the Egbe.

Giwa Anomo described Tugbobo as a worthy and impactful member who has significantly strengthened the group since joining in 2023. “His financial support, commitment to Egbe development, and ability to attract new members—especially among Ijebu sons in the diaspora—have made him a pillar of progress in our midst,” the Giwa noted.

Tugbobo, a respected entrepreneur with thriving interests in real estate, automotive, and facilities management, is widely admired for his philanthropic work and grassroots support. His investiture as Arogundade adds to his growing reputation as a bridge between tradition and modernity, and as a cultural ambassador for the Ijebu heritage.

He was accompanied to the occasion by his wife, Mrs. Monica Tugbobo, and other family members.

The conferment of the title is seen as a reaffirmation of the Egbe’s commitment to honouring members who exemplify excellence, service, and fidelity to Ijebuland’s rich traditions.
