The Nigerian diaspora in the United Kingdom is set for a spectacular cultural showcase as the Wazobia OWAMBE 2025 festival kicks off from Friday, July 25 to Sunday, July 27, under the theme “Celebrating Resilience.” The three-day event promises a colourful blend of workshops, sports, music, cultural heritage, and community engagement.
Day One: Dialogue and Empowerment
The festivities begin on Friday, July 25, with a series of virtual workshops and panel discussions running from 10:00am to 10:00pm. Designed to empower and enlighten, the sessions will explore critical issues affecting the Nigerian diaspora, including mental health, homeownership in the UK, safeguarding, career transition pathways, and relationship dynamics. Organisers say the day’s goal is to foster knowledge-sharing, wellness, and unity within the Nigerian community.

Day Two: Football and Family Fun
On Saturday, July 26, attention turns to the Cumberland Arena, where a community football match will see “Naija FL” go head-to-head with a mystery opponent. The family-friendly event kicks off at 4:00pm, with attendees encouraged to show up in jeans and green or white attire—a nod to Nigeria’s national colours. The event will feature music, food, dancing, and an electric atmosphere geared towards celebrating identity and fostering stronger social ties.
Day Three: Culture, Elections, and the Grand Finale
The festival will close on Sunday, July 27, with a grand cultural celebration at Coppicemere Drive, CW1 6HY, starting at 2:00pm. Guests are expected to wear strictly traditional attire. The day’s highlights include live music, dance performances, a showcase of Nigerian culture, and a feast of African delicacies. Significantly, the day will also host community elections, reinforcing the festival’s vision of building leadership and continuity among Nigerians in the UK.
