Early Political Realignments Take Shape in Kosofe Ahead of 2027 Elections

By Bilesanmi Abayomi

As public office holders under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe Federal Constituency quietly prepare for second or even third term bids, subtle but telling shifts in the local political landscape are beginning to unfold.

Within the APC, aspirants eyeing the Kosofe Constituency seats in both the Lagos State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives have begun laying the groundwork for their ambitions. A notable development is the growing number of 2025 chairmanship hopefuls in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA openly endorsing Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, the current representative of Kosofe Federal Constituency. This support, however, comes despite many of these aspirants lacking firm control over the grassroots party structures that often decide electoral fortunes.

While intra-party positioning gathers pace among APC stakeholders, the political opposition remains conspicuously dormant. To date, neither opposition parties nor their prospective candidates have initiated visible programs, campaigns, or grassroots mobilization efforts in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

The early alignments and endorsements within the ruling party suggest that Kosofe’s political contest may be shaped more by internal APC dynamics than by external competition — unless the opposition stirs from its current slumber.
