Supporters of Hon. Sanni Ganiu Okanlawon, the lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1, are split over the delayed completion of the Oworonshoki Fire Station project.

The fire station, launched in 2022, remains unfinished—leaving residents concerned about its impact on emergency response in the area.

Awonaike Adeleke Kazzim, a staunch supporter of the lawmaker, blamed the delay on the political crisis and impeachment saga that recently rocked the Lagos State House of Assembly. He argued that the instability slowed progress on the project.

But another supporter, Oloye Seun Salami, dismissed the claim. According to him, the Assembly crisis had no bearing on the project’s pace.

“The assertion on the slow pace of work is absolutely incorrect. Hon. Sanni Babatunde Okanlawon (OKLA) has made several efforts—both in writing and in person—to push the ministry and contractor to hasten completion. We hope the project will be commissioned in a few days,” Salami said.

He urged residents not to politicize the issue, stressing that Okanlawon’s broader achievements should be acknowledged.

“Regardless of political interests, we should appreciate the gesture rather than turn the delay into opposition politics. Hon. Okla has achieved a lot within a short time and is ready to do more,” he added.

The contrasting positions highlight simmering tension among Okanlawon’s supporters, as the community awaits the long-anticipated fire station.
