Kosofe Fire Station Project Stalls Four Years After Groundbreaking

The construction of the first Kosofe Local Government Fire Station in Oworonshoki has remained stalled nearly Four years after it was facilitated by Hon. Sanni Ganiu Okanlawon, the lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The project, which began in 2021, was envisioned to strengthen emergency response in the community. However, the station remains incomplete and non-operational, leaving residents without the critical infrastructure they were promised.

When contacted on Saturday, Hon. Okanlawon declined to comment.

An All Progressives Congress (APC) member and supporter of the lawmaker, Awonaike Adeleke Kazzim—popularly known as Kezenery—defended the situation, attributing the delay to internal tensions within the Lagos Assembly.

“The reason stemmed from a minor tension or itch we all observed during the power struggle and impeachment saga at the Lagos State House of Assembly, which was eventually resolved by our esteemed President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Kezenery said.

He expressed confidence that the project would be revived soon, adding: “I am 100% very sure that the reference points will soon embark on the same project, Insha’Allah.”

The prolonged delay has heightened concerns among residents who had hoped the station would provide relief amid recurring fire incidents in the area.
