The Member representing Kosofe Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Femi Saheed, has described the constituency stakeholders’ meeting as part of efforts by the Assembly to deepen grassroots participation in governance and ensure inclusiveness in the legislative process.
Speaking during the 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting held simultaneously across all 40 constituencies in the state, Saheed said the gathering provided a platform for community leaders, traditional rulers, chairmen, youth groups, party members and residents of Ikosi-Isheri, Agboyi-Ketu and other parts of the constituency to assess government performance and deliberate on developmental issues.
In his keynote address, the lawmaker highlighted the achievements recorded in his constituency and credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for ongoing support. He listed completed projects in infrastructure, road construction, education, healthcare, and youth and women empowerment.
“When I came into office four years ago, there was an infrastructural deficit, but today we have been able to address those areas. We’ve completed and handed over Church Street and Demurin Street. The relocated Odoogun Junior and Secondary School has been restored to its permanent site and equipped with furniture and other facilities.
“Agboyi-Ketu now boasts of a new secondary school, legislative house and secretariat. Ikosi-Isheri has the best primary health centre in Africa, while nine roads have been completed,” Saheed said.
He further assured constituents of continued collaboration with state and federal authorities to fast-track more projects, including the newly approved Maidan-Orile bridge and the installation of streetlights. He urged Community Development Committees (CDCs) and Associations (CDAs) to take ownership of completed projects by ensuring maintenance and discouraging indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mrs. Adetola Adunni Abubakar, commended Saheed for his constant efforts in repositioning Kosofe II, pledging collaboration with relevant authorities to deliver more dividends of democracy.
“I want you to put your mind at rest that all hands are on deck to make life better and to ensure that there is progress in what we want to deliver to you,” she assured.
Stakeholders at the meeting commended the Lagos State House of Assembly for institutionalising the forum, describing it as a vital bridge between lawmakers and the people. They also presented requests, including the total repair of Oluwajoba Road, Isheri-North GTA link road leading to Owode-Elede, more streetlights, and youth employment initiatives.
Responding, Saheed pledged to convey their concerns to the Assembly for legislative consideration, stressing that both state and federal governments remain committed to improving the welfare of residents.
