The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has urged political leaders in Lagos State to show empathy and prioritize the welfare of residents affected by the recent demolition exercise in Oworonshoki, Kosofe Local Government.

Reacting to the incident, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Okufuwa Samad Oluwatoyin, described the exercise as a test of leadership and compassion, stressing that families displaced by the midnight operation deserve urgent relief.

Quoting a popular maxim, he said: “To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.” He noted that governance must be guided by fairness, empathy, and a deep sense of responsibility to citizens.

“The affected families are in distress. They require immediate assistance and support to rebuild their lives. Leaders must put the people first, especially during times of crisis,” Okufuwa said.

The YPP spokesperson further urged the Lagos State Government to adopt a more humane approach to urban renewal policies, ensuring that development projects do not inflict undue suffering on residents.
