An aide to the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. (Barr.) Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, Mr. Moses Adekoya, has denied allegations that he threatened a resident, Mr. Lanre Aborisade, during a recent phone conversation.

In a public statement and counter-petition released on Sunday, Adekoya described the claims as “false, baseless, and politically motivated”, asserting that at no point did he threaten Aborisade or any other individual.

According to Adekoya, the phone call was intended to advise Aborisade against spreading “false and misleading information” concerning the compensation process for residents affected by the recent demolition exercise in the Oworonshoki community.

“I categorically deny these allegations in their entirety. My call was made in good faith to caution him against misinformation capable of inflaming public tension,” Adekoya stated.

He further accused Aborisade of attempting to malign his character and drag the name of the Executive Chairman into what he described as “a manufactured controversy.”

Adekoya also challenged Aborisade to provide verifiable evidence to support his claims, noting that in the age of digital communication, such allegations should be backed by audio recordings or other proof.

“He who alleges must be ready to prove,” he said.

The council aide emphasized that neither he nor the Executive Chairman had any interest in intimidating residents. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transparency, justice, and the welfare of all Kosofe residents, including those affected by the Oworonshoki demolition.

He concluded by suggesting that the petition might be “a desperate attempt to gain political relevance by dragging public officials into needless controversy.”

Efforts to reach Mr. Aborisade for a response were unsuccessful as of press time.
