A simmering internal conflict within the Kosofe chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) escalated over the weekend after a supporter’s scathing social media attack on a revered party leader triggered public backlash and a swift political distancing.
Hon. Musiliu Alade Aigoro, a former Member of the Lagos State Audit Board Commission and a potential contender for the Lagos State House of Assembly (Kosofe Constituency I), abruptly severed ties with his supporter, Etim Michael, following the latter’s verbal assault on APC chieftain, Otunba Bushira Alebiosu, a respected member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).
The Social Media Outburst
In a fiery post on Saturday, Etim Michael launched a broadside at Otunba Alebiosu, describing him in derogatory terms and criticising his continued influence within party structures.
“Your baba bush a common carpenter — a GAC without shame that will go and submit Councillor list at 90yrs while his mates are handing over power…,” Michael wrote.
He also questioned the political progression of Alebiosu’s son, Hon. Ekundayo Alebiosu, the current Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure Development, alleging that his advancement stalled after two terms in the House of Representatives.
Aigoro’s Immediate Denouncement
Michael’s comments, perceived by many as an attack on a highly respected political family in Kosofe, quickly gained traction—particularly because of Aigoro’s rumoured interest in contesting the Kosofe Constituency I seat in the next legislative cycle.
In an attempt to control the political damage, Aigoro swiftly issued a public disclaimer, distancing himself from the remarks and ending ties with Michael.
“The moment he posted that stuff was the end of my relationship with him. Trust me,” Aigoro declared.
Rising Tensions Within Kosofe APC
The incident has deepened visible cracks within the APC in Kosofe, where tensions have simmered for weeks between supporters of Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, and loyalists of the long-standing Alebiosu political structure.
The outburst and subsequent disclaimer have amplified concerns over a widening rift between the old guard and emerging power blocs as the 2025 political season approaches.
Observers say the crisis could shape internal dynamics ahead of the party primaries, with party elders calling for restraint to prevent further escalation.
