Responding to the publication, Bankole-Hameed criticised Fani-Kayode’s assertion that Christians make up 50 percent of Nigeria’s population, describing the claim as misleading and capable of inflaming religious sensitivities. He warned that such statements risk deepening national divisions and heightening unnecessary tension.

Bankole-Hameed argued that available indicators suggest the Muslim population “clearly outstrips” that of Christians, insisting that Muslims constitute about 60 percent of the national population.

He ended his reaction succinctly, noting: “Just my 2 cents.”
