2027: Lagos East Senatorial Race Heats Up as Aspirants Begin Early Mobilisation
By Bilesanmi Abayomi
Political activities are gradually intensifying across the Lagos East Senatorial District as supporters begin to mobilise around prospective candidates ahead of the 2027 general election.
One of the emerging figures in the unfolding contest is Kolade Alabi, a former Chairman of Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA), whose campaign flyers have recently gained visibility across parts of the socialmedia, an indication of growing grassroots engagement and early positioning.
Meanwhile, the political intentions of the incumbent senator, Adetokunbo Mikhail Abiru, remain unclear, fuelling speculation about his next move as the election cycle slowly gathers momentum.
Both Senator Abiru and Kolade Alabi, alongside other key party stakeholders, were recently sighted seated at the high table during a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos East Senatorial District. Observers say the development reflects ongoing consultations, alignments, and strategic manoeuvring within the party.
Political analysts anticipate that more aspirants will formally signal their interest in the Lagos East senatorial seat in the coming weeks, as activities within the district begin to shift into higher gear ahead of the 2027 polls.
