A community advocate and whistleblower, Ganiyu Olamiji Oyebanjo, popularly known as GOCO, has commended political figure Oloye Salami Oluwaseun for what he described as a bold move toward truth, reconciliation, and accountability in Kosofe Local Government politics.

In a statement made available to the public, Oyebanjo praised Salami for demonstrating “rare maturity, courage, and fearlessness” in a political climate often marked by division and competing personal interests.

He noted that Salami’s acknowledgment of previously acting under the influence of party loyalty represents a significant moment for accountability within the Kosofe political space.

Oyebanjo also lauded Salami’s decision to withdraw all legal actions against him and his son, Ashroff Oyebanjo, describing it as a reflection of integrity and commitment to justice. He added that the timing of the decision—during the Lenten season and shortly after the Ramadan fast—symbolises forgiveness, reflection, and a renewed dedication to truth.

Highlighting broader implications, Oyebanjo said Salami’s statement should serve as a call to action for political stakeholders in Kosofe, stressing that whistleblowing efforts must not be misconstrued as personal vendettas but seen as necessary steps to safeguard public resources and promote good governance.

He further raised concerns about the role of so-called “social media warriors,” cautioning against the spread of defamatory content and political intimidation. According to him, leadership must be anchored on competence, respect for constituted authority, and ethical standards.

On party cohesion, Oyebanjo reiterated the need for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to uphold its core values and guard against opportunistic influences capable of undermining its legacy in the area.

Describing the development as part of a growing “Kosofe Awakening,” he said the unfolding events signal a shift toward transparency, accountability, and collective progress in the local government.

“We may have walked different paths in the past, but today we stand on the same side of history—the side of accountability, transparency, and the progress of Kosofe Local Government,” Oyebanjo stated.

He expressed optimism that the reconciliation would inspire broader unity and responsible leadership across Kosofe.
