Here comes the season we all have been waiting for. A defining moment for all and sundry, yes, it is the election season!
It is an era where everyone takes a side based on what matters most to them: personal gain or public good. Either way, a choice must be made. It is crucial to remember that this is the only time the masses truly hold the power to build a sustainable future. This opportunity comes but once every four years.

However, despite holding the ammunition needed to end these societal anomalies, many choose to trade their bullets for bread. They choose to forget the years of denial and the long seasons of silence.
It saddens me that, for selfish interests, many ignore the goodwill our community has enjoyed. They turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to the all-round development Ikorodu is currently experiencing.
To contextualise this, “oro o ni je ti t’eni ki a ma mo da” – we can’t feign ignorance regarding matter that touch our very souls.
Lately, Ikorodu has trended across media platforms with the tag “No Vacancy” for certain political positions. While the man who truly deserves such appellation, Rep. Babajimi Benson, Member, House of Representatives, Ikorodu Federal Constituency, has asked us to desist from such language to encourage healthy competition, we must be honest. Kamaparo, for obvious reasons, that position is not vacant.
To the individuals choosing a path to nowhere, what happens when the money you were bought with expires? What will you tell your children about the future you sold away?
In Ikorodu, we know the obvious truth, we are keenly watching, because we know this time shall pass and we will reap the consequences of the decisions made today.
