The Lagos East Senatorial District leader of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Otunba Bushira Alebiosu, has endorsed the aspiration of Kosofe political figure, Dele Oshinowo, for the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement followed Oshinowo’s formal presentation of his All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to the GAC leader, as part of ongoing consultations with key stakeholders within the party.
Strategic Backing Within APC Structure
The development is seen as an early boost for Oshinowo’s ambition, given the influence of the GAC in shaping political outcomes within Lagos APC.
As part of his consultation rounds, Oshinowo also met with Ekundayo Alebiosu and the APC Chairman in Kosofe Local Government, Sulyman Afuye, further consolidating support within the party’s local structure.
‘A Call to Serve’ — Oshinowo
In a statement accompanying the development, Oshinowo framed his decision to contest as a response to grassroots demand for stronger federal representation.
“To answer the call of the people of Kosofe, I have taken a definitive step by picking up the Expression of Interest and Nomination Form of our great party, the APC,” he said. “This is more than a political move; it is a call to serve.”
He described Alebiosu as a respected leader whose guidance remains pivotal, adding that his record in local governance reflects his capacity to deliver results.
Momentum Builds Ahead of Primaries
Oshinowo also expressed confidence ahead of the APC primaries, stating that his engagement with stakeholders and constituents has strengthened his position within the race.
“Kosofe deserves stronger, smarter, and people-focused representation, and that is exactly what we are stepping forward to deliver,” he added.
Race Set to Intensify
Political observers note that the endorsement signals early alignment within influential blocs of the APC, even as other aspirants continue consultations and build their own support networks.
With the Kosofe Federal Constituency seat already attracting multiple contenders, the coming weeks are expected to witness intensified political activity, negotiations, and strategic positioning ahead of party primaries.
