Residents of Ogudu have been thrown into mourning following the death of their traditional ruler, Oba Nojeemdeen Fashola, the Ologudu of Ogudu II and Paramount Ruler of Ogudu Land.
The monarch, who joined his ancestors on May 6, 2026, has been widely described as a symbol of royalty, dignity, courage, and wisdom. Community members noted that his reign helped redefine the role of traditional institutions in modern Lagos by blending cultural heritage with progressive leadership.
In separate tributes, residents commiserated with the royal family, the Ogudu traditional council, and the entire community, emphasizing that the late Ologudu was more than a king but a custodian of the town’s identity and heritage.
They further highlighted that his time on the throne was marked by intellectual depth, fearlessness, and a commitment to modernization. Many believe his legacy will continue to shape leadership within traditional institutions and inspire future generations.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the royal family in due course.
