Six years after the passing of former Kosofe Local Government Chairman and ex-member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Tunde Braimoh, his legacy continues to resonate across the political landscape of Kosofe, with many describing his enduring influence as one of mentorship, leadership and institution-building.

Braimoh, who died in 2020, served as the pioneer Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government and later represented Kosofe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly. Throughout his public service, he earned a reputation for nurturing young leaders and promoting grassroots governance.
Beyond his political accomplishments, the late lawmaker was widely regarded as a mentor who invested in the development of emerging leaders across politics, law, business and community service. His supporters say his greatest contribution was not merely the offices he occupied but the people he prepared for leadership.
Among those often cited as beneficiaries of his mentorship is Hon. Oladele Oshinowo, popularly known as Mayor Dele Oshinowo. A former Secretary to Kosofe Local Government and two-term Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Oshinowo is currently the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kosofe Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Political associates have described Oshinowo’s emergence as a reflection of Braimoh’s commitment to raising a new generation of leaders grounded in public service and community development.
In recognition of his contributions, the popular Mandela Market was recently renamed Hon. Tunde Braimoh Modern Market, a move supporters say is intended to preserve his memory and acknowledge his impact on the development of Kosofe.
Six years after his death, many political stakeholders maintain that Braimoh’s ideals of disciplined leadership, loyalty, intellectual engagement and human capital development continue to influence governance and political participation within the constituency.
As preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum, his supporters believe the late lawmaker’s legacy remains evident in the leaders he mentored and the institutions he helped build, reinforcing his place as one of the most influential political figures in Kosofe’s history.
