The Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has yet to release its official list of candidates for elective positions in Kosofe, despite a formal request submitted as part of a voter information initiative ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The request was made by Kosofe Post under its “Know Your Candidate” series, an initiative aimed at providing residents with verified information about candidates seeking elective offices across the constituency.

In a formal inquiry addressed to the party’s Lagos State leadership, the publication requested the names of the NDC candidates contesting the following positions:

Kosofe Constituency I

Kosofe Constituency II

Kosofe Federal Constituency

Lagos East Senatorial District

Publisher of Kosofe Post, Mr. Abayomi Bilesanmi, said he contacted the Lagos State Chairman of the NDC, Mr. King Okuneye, to obtain the information.

According to him, more than 24 hours after the request was submitted, the party had not responded or released the requested list.

The development comes as political parties continue preparations for the 2027 general elections. The NDC has recently conducted primary elections in several states and attracted attention over the introduction of an anti-defection oath for its candidates.

While the party has not explained its silence, political observers note that some parties may delay public disclosure of candidate lists pending the completion of internal administrative processes.

However, the lack of response has slowed Kosofe Post’s effort to publish verified profiles of candidates contesting elections in the constituency as part of its voter education campaign.

As of the time of filing this report, the Lagos State NDC Chairman, King Okuneye, had not responded to requests for comment or clarified the party’s position on the release of its candidate list for Kosofe.
