The traditional institution and residents of Lagos State are mourning the death of His Royal Majesty, Oba Adelana Babatunde Ogunjobi, the Oba Olofin of Maidan-Mile 12 Kingdom, who passed away in the early hours of August 9, 2026.
The monarch’s death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders and residents, who described his reign as one marked by peace, wisdom and commitment to community development.
Among those who paid tribute was His Royal Majesty, Oba Engr. Monsuru Abimbola Oladega, Akinmasa I, the fourth Olu of Agboyi Kingdom.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the Odoyi Ogbo Royal Family, Owoyele Chieftaincy Family, council of chiefs and people of Agboyi Kingdom, Oba Oladega described the late monarch as a respected traditional ruler whose reign contributed to the unity and progress of Maidan-Mile 12 Kingdom.
The Olu of Agboyi said Oba Ogunjobi’s reign was characterised by peace, wisdom and dignity, adding that his fatherly counsel and contributions to the traditional institution would be greatly missed across Kosofe and Lagos State.
He prayed that Almighty Allah grant the late monarch Aljanat Firdaus and give the royal family, chiefs and people of Maidan-Mile 12 the strength to bear the loss.
Also mourning the monarch, Taiwo Lasisi, President of the Ta’awunu Humanitarian Forum, Lagos, described the death as another painful loss for the community.
Lasisi extended his condolences and prayers to the bereaved family, the Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area and residents of the Kosofe Federal Constituency.
Similarly, community advocate Omoba Awofeso Rasheed Ololade expressed condolences to the royal family and prayed for divine strength for those affected by the monarch’s death.
Residents and other community stakeholders have also taken to social media to mourn the late king, sharing messages of condolence and prayers for the repose of his soul.
As Maidan-Mile 12 Kingdom begins its period of mourning, tributes to Oba Ogunjobi continue to centre on his perceived legacy of peace, community service, wisdom and dignity during his reign.
Further details regarding the monarch’s funeral and traditional burial rites are expected to be announced by the royal family and relevant traditional authorities.
