The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially listed Mayor Dele Oshinowo as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kosofe Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The confirmation appears to have ended Hon. Kafilat Adetola Ogbara’s efforts to secure a last-minute reversal of the party’s nomination following months of internal disputes over the APC primary election in the constituency.
Oshinowo emerged as the winner of the party’s May 18 primary, while Ogbara reportedly placed fifth. However, the incumbent lawmaker continued to challenge the outcome, alleging that no election took place.
Ahead of the September 12 deadline for political parties to finalise candidate submissions, Ogbara and her supporters reportedly lobbied the APC National Working Committee in an effort to overturn the primary result. The deadline passed without any reported reversal.
The final candidates list, signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony, lists Oshinowo Oladele under serial number 166 as the APC candidate for the Kosofe Federal Constituency seat in Lagos State.
The 48-year-old candidate’s listed qualifications include primary and secondary school certificates, as well as a Master of Science degree in Risk Management.
INEC’s publication formally confirms Oshinowo’s candidacy and shifts the APC’s focus towards preparations for the 2027 legislative campaign.
The development leaves Ogbara, whose tenure in the House of Representatives is approaching its end, facing a new political reality as the party moves forward with its recognised candidate.
