The founder of Community Gist, Comrade Azeez Ramon, has marked his 40th birthday by giving back to the community through an educational giveaway programme that provided free exercise books to more than 1,000 schoolchildren.
The initiative, organised as part of Ramon’s birthday celebration, benefited pupils of United Primary School and students of Matogbun Community High School.
Speaking on the programme, Ramon said he chose to mark the milestone by supporting children and contributing to education within the community.
He said education remains an important tool for empowering young people and creating opportunities for a better future, adding that modest interventions can make a meaningful difference in the lives of schoolchildren.
The beneficiaries received exercise books to support their studies, while volunteers assisted with the distribution and ensured the materials reached the pupils and students.
Ramon expressed appreciation to the volunteers and others who contributed to the success of the initiative, describing their support as an important part of the celebration.
He said the initiative was intended to go beyond marking his 40th birthday by encouraging a culture of giving and greater community support for education.
The beneficiaries and school communities expressed appreciation for the gesture, which provided practical educational support to the children.
Through the initiative, the Community Gist founder turned a personal milestone into an opportunity to support education and give back to the community.
