The electricity tariff, and fuel price hike has generated divided opinions among Nigerians over the government’s policy.
Below are the responses of the opinion poll conducted, and compiled by Kosofe Post, this midweek.
The increase in fuel & energy bills came at ill time. Average Nigeria’s about to recover from social & pecuniary impact of Covid19. it should be noted that Government always treat issues affecting masses with levity. Aptly, the effects of duo actions is already compounding the existing hardships- Community and Child Protection Network (CCPN), Coordinator, Rasheed Awofeso.
The recent hike in petrol and electricity tariff in Nigeria to me came as a shock, but economically speaking it is a well come development and much awaited.
Nigerians will benefit the gains of the increment in the long run, when the government further allows favourable competition among players in the industries,- Alarape Aliu, writer, teacher, political activist, and entrepreneur.
In developed world residents both tax payers, and non were given palliative during covid-19 pandemic. Sadly, reverse was the case in Nigeria with selective distributions. We are yet to get over Government reckless abandon of the citizens during
the trying time. Yet, they further chose to more salt on our injuries by increasing the power supply tariff, and Petrol pump price, used to augment the unstable power supply. This is totally insensitivity to the plight of the masses – A.K Ojasugbo.
To start with, I want to plead to all Nigerians to bear with the government. During the last administration we could not get petroleum products in our fuel stations and we patronised the black marketers at a very high price but today we have the product available.
Nigerians should please help themselves by reducing the high in price of good and services to avoid inflation. The increase in electricity tariffs should be use to improve the country electricity and development of our nation.
Amidst COVID-19 lockdown and the drop in crude oil prices we all know this will surely affect the nation economy and the back flow to sustain the nation is to put up this little measure to balance up governance expenditure.
Let all Nigerians see this little measure from government as a wisdom to sustain our economy. Though, is not easy out there but it’s a pain we must bear and the end thereof is going to be better, Hon Adebajo Adetunji (Dudu).
