CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISION:
“Section 21 of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) Law provides that the Notice of Elections shall be published not less than 90 days before the date of election in conformity with section 30(i) of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

Going by the afore-stated, LASIEC would be expected to publish a notice of Local Government elections in the State not later than 22nd April, 2021.

However, What a doctor is to a patient that’s what Ashiwaju is to the All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party, other opposition parties in Lagos State as result of his consequential political pronouncements on grassroots politics over the decades beyond the reported LASIEC 3 Days workshop and Movement of sensitive materials across the council areas.

A reliable source hinted that some Chairmanship aspirants has been advised not to waste their time, energy and resources until the APC Presidential hopeful, Ashiwaju speak up on the subject matter.

According to reliable sources, Lagos State 2021 budget without provisions for this year’s conduct of the LG election. Also, without supplementary budget forwarded by Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to the Lagos State House of Assembly as it was recently done on the hundreds of official vehicles approved for government revealed that there’s strong likelihood of caretaker Committee to be appointed to run the affairs of the county’s as earlier reported.

But a source among the chairmanship aspirants when contacted over the speculated appointment about his chances of getting the caretaker Chairman said even there would be such he was not interested in such job. He further noted that he will rather wait until the Committee complete one tenure to contest for the Council seat proper.

Some loyalists of APC 2023 Presidential hopeful, Tinubu camp are said to have preferred Caretaker arrangements pending the conclusion of APC’s National Convention scheduled for Q3, 2021. It was gathered that some key leaders in Tinubu’s camp were more concerned about 2023 general elections than the closest third tier of government to the grassroots poll.
