The fallout of the just abrupted congresses in Lagos State has left a very sour taste on the mouths of majority of leaders and members across the State. What promised to be a process that will bring about a breath of fresh air has turned out to be a nightmare.
The Ward congresses commenced in earnest penultimate on the 2nd of October 2021. This was followed by the Local Government elections on the 16th of October, 2021. Both processes seemed to have experienced some semblance of peaceful processes until the hands of Satan stroke just after the Local Government congresses. The popular candidates across several LGA’s were substituted at the National Secretariat by some agents of destruction. This alternation affected 13 out of the 20 LGA’s in the State. Even LGA’s where the party has serving popular House of Representatives members were not spared.
Popular decisions of prominent leaders and all stakeholders who had painstakingly reached consensus where all thrown to the dustbin by these elements who do not mean well for the progress of the party. Credible, reliable and long-standing aspirants were substituted for known members of the ruling APC who have been planted as spies to ensure that PDP never wins elections in Lagos State.
The evil collaborators in connivance with their Abuja pawns have murdered Lagos State PDP. The current National Organizing Secretary Col Austin Akobundu has been used to finalize this hatchet job that will see the extinction of PDP in the State. A staff of the National Secretariat who hails from Lagos State, Adeyemi Mayogun (Director of National Organizing office) is part of the sinister act that will further polarize the already dampened spirit of party faithful across the State.
We call on the National body to immediately cancel the entire congresses from the Ward level and setup an unbiased committee of very prominent leaders to midwife a fresh congress. Leaders in the Southwest like Governor Seyi Makinde who could not conduct a successful congress election in Oyo State MUST BE EXCLUDED from the new congresses. The interview by the head of the electoral committee and Deputy Governor of Benue State Mr. Benson Abounu is a testimony that all is not well in Lagos State PDP.
Leaders who had championed the course of the masses across the State have teamed up with those that have always deprived the party of victory in the State all because of their new appointments as Zonal officers. The situation in Lagos State PDP is becoming very worrisome.
WE CAN ASSURE THE NATIONAL BODY THAT THIS WILL LEAD TO THE EMERGENCE OF FACTIONAL PARTY EXECUTIVES ACROSS ALL LEVELS IF THIS THEFT ON THE INTERNAL DEMOCRACY OF OUR PARTY IN LAGOS STATE IS NOT REVERSED IMMEDIATELY.
