In the upcoming 2023 general elections, the Kosofe Federal Constituency of Lagos House of Representatives seat favored female candidates.

Kosofe Post reports that since the return to democracy in 1999, women in politics in Kosofe’s ruling party, APC, as far as House of Assembly and House of Representatives races are concerned, have not been allowed to attain their political heights.

However, from 2007 to the 2019 general elections, the main opposition party, the PDP, has fielded female candidates without winning any elections.

Again, the party has fielded another female, Mrs. Florence Adegbega, who will be challenging the candidate of the APC, Mrs. Kafilat Ogbara, for the 2023 poll.

The two major opposition parties, with formidable structures and party members’ adoption of female flagbearers, pointedly indicated that the first female member of the House of Representatives may likely emerge in Kosofe in the 2023 general elections.
