The Lagos State government has continued the distribution of palliative materials to its residents to cushion the biting effects of cash crunch resulting from the naira redesigned policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu had promised recently that his administration would cushion the effects of the hardship being experienced by the people of Lagos as a result of fuel scarcity and lack of currency from the banks.
The beneficiaries included the vulnerable, artisans, traders received food items and cash gifts among others.
Speaking to Kosofe Post shortly after the exercise held at strategical locations within Kosofe on Thursday, Hon. Omowunmi Ogungbaibi, said the distribution came from Office of the governor to ameliorates the suffering of vulnerable people.
Ogungbaibi, a legal practitioner, said the palliatives came from the Office of Governor to cushion effect of the naira crunch they were all experiencing as a sensitive, caring and very loving Governor that had the interest of the citizens at heart.
She added that the governor had made provision for palliatives to cushion effect of this hard time.
The lawyer said as they had seen in the news that the governor had slashed the transport fair by 50 per cent for BRT passengers that what they want in governance and thats waa the kind of people they want; the people that had the interest of the public at heart.
“People that are concerned about the less privileged in the society, people that are concerned about the people that put them on that seat that voted into that office.
“The governor did not forgot the grassroots; artisans, market women, carpenter, hawkers on the streets; he is a governor for everybody and you and I.
“He is a governor for the masses not just for the technocrats , elites he’s a governor for all,” she said.
Ogungbaibi noted that last week, the governor had promised to send palliatives to strategic locations for the vulnerable in the society and this was an arm of it, and that was what they had just did this morning.
According to her, you can see the turnout, the crowd is always more than what are available on ground, but we are happy to do the little we can do.
She, however, appeal to the people of Lagos to re-elect a Sanwo-Olu that had led them and had given them a listening ear, a governor that his shoulders is always available to lean on.
Ogungbaibi said he was a governor that had a large heart to accommodate them, he is a governor that was always available; he is a spontaneous man the way he respond to issue.
“You can tell during the Covid-19 outbreak as the incident commander which has earned him the title of Ekun Oko Covid, till tomorrow all other states look up to Lagos as at then.
“He is able to maneuver and manage the situation perfectly well. So, for somebody that has done outstandingly well, what do you expect?
“Infact he should be unopposed in this forthcoming election as a governor we all want back in that office at that Alausa number one seat. So shall it be in Jesus name.
“We should all go out en masse on that very day and caste our votes for Gov. Babajide Sanwoolu because its all our fundamental human rights, and a vote could go a very long way even with this BVAS machines we are using now,
” So we should let us not let laxity take advantage of us , let us all go out to support and re-elect him back into that office as we all want and pray for,” she said.
Ogungbaibi said Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was the candidate they want at the presidency that had draw out the infrastructure plans.
One of the beneficiary, Madam Sidikatu Abeke from the Palace of Ologudu ogudu expressed her profound gratitude to Gov. Babajide Sanwoolu for his kind gesture.
Abeke commended the governor for infrastructural development in the state,
She also thanked him for taken good care of the aged, and prayed fervently for his re-election success, sound health and mind, prosperity, among others.
