Residents of Agboyi Ketu LCDA, Kosofe, have begun tipping Councilor Bashir Omogbohan Saheed, popularly known as Elewedu, as the potential successor to Mayor Dele Oshinowo, whose second term will conclude in the next two years. The councilor’s consistent delivery of impactful programs and initiatives has garnered attention, setting him apart from his contemporaries who have been criticized for neglecting their constituencies.

Councilor Elewedu recently organized the successful Councilor Elewedu Kids Cup, further enhancing his reputation among the residents. The event showcased his commitment to youth development and community engagement, earning him praise from various quarters.

Hon. Samuel Olanrewaju Adebayo, the President of Succour Health and Education Foundation, expressed his confidence in Elewedu, stating, “Elewedu is our next Council chairman.” Similarly, Comrade Abiodun Aliu suggested that Elewedu should be considered for the position of the next leader of the Agboyi Ketu LCDA Legislative Arm.

Comrade Alarape Aliu emphasized the need for careful consideration, suggesting that Elewedu should initially become the leader of the house before potentially ascending to the role of Chairman. He acknowledged the potential political challenges of appointing someone from the same ward but expressed confidence in Elewedu’s intellectual capabilities to deliver outstanding results.

Another resident, Hon. Seun Awosanya, emphasized the importance of good governance and urged the community to select the best candidate based on their manifestos and leadership qualities. He stressed the need for a builder who could effectively carry out the responsibilities of the Chairman.

However, Ojoge Muslimat expressed her disagreement with the idea of Elewedu being the next chairman. She argued that it was the turn of an Agboyi indigene to assume the position and stated that the community was politically and intellectually capable of producing a suitable candidate.

While Councilor Elewedu has not made any explicit statements regarding his potential candidacy, it has been gathered that several Chairmanship aspirants from the All Progressives Congress (APC) are vying for the council seat. These aspirants have reached out to influential APC members and notable leaders in Kosofe to secure their support.
