Ikeja Electric Partners with Leading Manufacturers to Enhance Electricity Distribution

Ikeja Electric Plc (IE), a prominent electricity distribution company, has recently entered into a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two distinguished Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Kabelmetal Nigeria Plc and Nigerchin Wire and Cable Ltd, in a groundbreaking move aimed at strengthening its electricity distribution network.

The partnership marks the first-of-its-kind commitment in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) where manufacturers pledge to supply customized cables to a Distribution Company (DisCO).

The formal sign-off ceremony took place at Ikeja Electric’s corporate headquarters, where the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Folake Soetan, expressed her excitement over the collective effort that led to this remarkable feat. Soetan lauded the partnership, recognizing it as a decisive step in the right direction. The timely and regular supply of cables and associated materials would enable Ikeja Electric to address faults more efficiently and accelerate ongoing projects, ultimately fostering steady energy growth.

She emphasized that this strategic alliance with Kabelmetal Nigeria Plc and Nigerchin Wire and Cable Ltd would cultivate a mutually beneficial relationship and deeper business engagements between the parties involved.

Eric Waldner, the Managing Director of Kabelmetal Nigeria Plc, and Sunil Kumar, the General Manager of Nigerchin Wire and Cable Ltd, also expressed their optimism during the event. They conveyed their enthusiasm about venturing into such an agreement with a Distribution Company for the first time. Both manufacturers pledged unwavering support and collaboration to ensure prompt delivery of the materials required by Ikeja Electric.
