In a series of rigorous screenings, the Lagos State House of Assembly has begun the evaluation of 39 commissioner-nominees submitted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Among those who recently faced the 12-man screening committee were Hon. Yacoob Ekundayo Alebiosu and 19 others, marking a crucial step toward the formation of the state executive council.

The committee, led by Chairman Mojeed Fatai, Chief Whip of the House, emphasized the constitutional importance of their task in scrutinizing and confirming these nominees for key positions in the state administration.

One notable nominee who appeared before the committee, Hon. Yacoob Ekundayo Alebiosu, shared his diverse experiences from both the executive and legislative branches of government. Reflecting on his past role as a legislator, Alebiosu expressed his readiness to serve in any ministry, highlighting his dexterity and versatility.

Alebiosu proudly recounted his accomplishments, mentioning his role in advocating for fair compensation for the Dana Air Crash victims through international treaties. He also spoke about his contributions to resolving issues like the Intercontinental Bank and Access Bank pension conflicts, as well as his involvement in seeking justice for the Alu Killings.

When asked about his ability to manage the relationship between the executive and the legislature, Alebiosu affirmed his deep understanding of the parliamentary process, likening the legislature to home and essential to a functioning democracy.

In response to his potential contributions, Alebiosu promised to bring his wealth of experience to the executive arm, highlighting his leadership roles in various committees despite his background as an architect. He also acknowledged the gap in his CV and explained that his commitment to architecture remained unwavering throughout the years.

The screening process, which commenced on Sunday, saw the likes of Mrs. Adetoke Benson-Awoyinka and Mrs. Bola Olumegbon Lawal among the commissioner-nominees who faced the committee. The recommendations of the committee will ultimately be presented to the Lagos State House of Assembly for further consideration.
