The Ikosi Isheri LCDA Chairmanship race has stirred fresh contention as stakeholders from the Isheri community assert their area’s rightful claim to produce the next chairman. Situated within the Kosofe Local Government Area and bounded by Ikosi-Ketu and Ojodu Berger, Isheri is divided into two phases: Magodo GRA Phase 1 and Magodo Phase 2.

In a bold move, Concerned Youths and Leaders of Isheri, Olowoira, Omole Phase 2, Magodo, Orisha, and Unilag Estate distributed text and flyers to Kosofe Post, urging All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders to recognize Isheri’s turn in chairing the local council.

Citing a sense of long-overdue entitlement, aggrieved youths emphasized that after 20 years of existence, the time has ripened for Ikosi Isheri LCDA to usher in a new Council Chairman from their community.

Recalling the LCDA’s inception two decades ago as one of the 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) carved out of Kosofe Local Government, it’s noted that the council comprises seven wards. Notable past Executive Chairmen include Honourable Adekunle Soname (Ward C) from 2004 to 2007, Engr. Abdulfatai Oyesanya (Ward E), and the incumbent Chairman Princess Samiat Bada (Ward J).

The fervent agitation from concerned youths, compounded by the surge in chairmanship aspirants, underscores the significance of APC ranking decision-makers. Key figures such as Governor Advisory Council leader Otunba Bushira Alebiosu, Omoba Ademuyiwa Sosanya, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara (member of the House of Representatives representing Kosofe Federal Constituency of Lagos), and former Pioneer Chairman of Ikosi Isheri LCDA, Hon. Adekunle Soname, among others, are poised to influence the outcome of this decisive race.
