In the lead-up to the Chairmanship election in Kosofe Local Government, the All Progressives Congress (APC) seems to have solidified its stance on re-electing the incumbent Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe. However, while the APC appears to have its strategy in place, the opposition parties are struggling to unify, echoing the motto of “Be Prepared” from the boyscouts.
Despite the absence of official statements from the APC regarding the forthcoming election, the activities and programs of political players in the region are indicative of the direction things are heading. Sources close to the kingmakers in Kosofe have indicated a preference for maintaining the status quo, aligning with the party’s tradition of granting second terms to first-term chairmen.
The memory of past events, such as the sudden shift in favor of the incumbent Chairman during previous primary elections, serves as a cautionary tale for aspirants within the APC. The party’s apparent inclination towards Ogunlewe’s re-election leaves little room for contention.
On the other hand, the opposition parties, including the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party, present alternatives for contenders seeking to challenge the APC’s dominance. Despite potential advantages for the opposition, internal crises within their ranks threaten to undermine their chances unless swiftly resolved.
