Kosofe Local Government Area Chairman, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, highlighted key achievements of his administration during a media briefing and the commissioning of 10 boreholes on Monday. Ogunlewe emphasized significant progress in infrastructure, education, and healthcare since taking office in July 2021.
Presenting his three-year scorecard at the Council’s Secretariat, Ogunlewe detailed numerous infrastructure projects, including the construction of 30 roads across the local government’s seven wards. He praised the completion of 10 boreholes, addressing the critical need for clean water in various communities.
Ogunlewe credited financial autonomy, granted by the Supreme Court, for enabling direct payments from the federation to the local government. He assured continued development efforts without resorting to loans, relying on federal allocations and internally generated revenue.
In education, Ogunlewe celebrated initiatives such as the yearly distribution of 200 GCE and JAMB forms, free tutorial classes, and adult literacy programs. He stressed the administration’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment and promoting educational advancement.
Healthcare also saw improvements, with residents gaining access to affordable services at all Primary Health Centres. Addressing economic challenges, Ogunlewe introduced a Food Bank to support vulnerable residents amidst rising food prices.
Ogunlewe thanked community leaders and religious figures for their support and pledged to continue pursuing initiatives that benefit the Kosofe community.
