Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East District, joined teachers in the Ikorodu Division on Saturday at the Teachers’ House, Methodist Schools Complex to celebrate World Teachers’ Day. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as educators who had previously participated in the Lagos East Teachers Fellowship at the SAIL Innovation Lab warmly welcomed the senator.

Abiru, a vocal advocate for teacher empowerment, highlighted the crucial role teachers play in nation-building and stressed the need for continuous investment in their development. “If we are to build a future where all children have access to quality education, we must invest in our teachers,” he remarked, underscoring the necessity of resources and support for educators.

The senator lauded the success of his SAIL Empowerment Foundation’s initiatives, which have upskilled thousands of teachers across Lagos East, particularly through the Fellowship program and modern instructional methods like Inquiry-Based Learning. He also spotlighted the STEM program at the SAIL Innovation Lab, designed to expose secondary school students to cutting-edge technology, such as 3-D technology, fostering creativity and learning.

In addition to these educational programs, Abiru pointed out his efforts to enhance physical infrastructure and support educational development throughout the district. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing teachers’ welfare, recognizing their pivotal role as mentors and role models for the nation’s youth.

Expressing his deep appreciation for their perseverance, Abiru concluded with gratitude for the sacrifices teachers make in shaping the future generation.
