All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship aspirant for Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Oromidayo Timileyin Balogun, has outlined his eight-point agenda, pledging to prioritize free healthcare, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment through Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training.

Balogun made this known in an interview with Kosofe Post following the APC screening exercise held at the party secretariat in Lagos on Wednesday.

“As we are now in the ICT era, my plan is to train our youths in ethical and productive ICT-related courses,” he said. “We want to steer them away from internet fraud by updating their skills and connecting them to opportunities in the tech-driven world.”

Highlighting his leadership style, Balogun emphasized that his administration, if elected, would focus heavily on ICT, education, health, and infrastructural advancement.

“Our generation is different. We belong to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) generation, and many of our youths are not being carried along. We will assess individual strengths and talents to train them in areas where they can excel.”

Balogun, who identified himself as the youngest among the aspirants, said his youth and tech-driven vision distinguish him from other contenders.

“My leadership approach is not only youthful but also responsive to the realities of this digital age,” he noted.

He further disclosed that his political ambition is deeply rooted in personal history, inspired by his late father who was a dedicated grassroots politician in Kosofe and Lagos.

“My father contested several times and lost his life while running for the chairmanship seat. He was a dogged political fighter. I want to actualise the dreams he had for our community,” Balogun said.

On transparency and accountability, the aspirant promised to ensure judicious allocation of resources from the federal government, assuring residents of equitable grassroots development.

“I come from a background where greed was never encouraged. I will ensure that every kobo is used to touch the lives of our people positively,” he said.

Speaking on the campaign process, Balogun expressed confidence in the party’s internal democracy and vowed to support the APC regardless of the outcome.

“I don’t see any challenge. The party has always followed due process. If I win, I will serve diligently. If otherwise, I will support the party,” he stated.

Balogun acknowledged that limited funding is one of the major challenges local governments face, but he pledged to boost Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through strategic and citizen-friendly initiatives.

“We will explore avenues to increase IGR without imposing undue taxes or burdens on residents. The goal is development, not hardship,” he added.

Balogun’s eight-point agenda also includes education, environmental sanitation, youth development, social welfare, and good governance. He reiterated his commitment to providing inclusive leadership that meets the pressing needs of the people of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.
