The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared incumbent Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Samiat Bada, to contest for a third term in the forthcoming local government elections, boosting her re-election chances ahead of the July 12 polls.

The development follows the release of the screening results for chairmanship aspirants conducted by the party ahead of its May 10 primary election. The screening committee, chaired by legal luminary Barrister Babatunde Kwame Ogala, SAN, affirmed Bada’s eligibility, effectively putting to rest speculations about whether she could vie for office again after serving two previous terms.

Party insiders said the screening outcome has solidified Bada’s position as a frontrunner in the race, provided she secures the APC ticket. Her candidacy has continued to enjoy strong grassroots support, with key endorsements from influential party leaders in the area, including Otunba Bushira Alebiosu and Omoba Olumuyiwa Sosanya.

Despite the boost for Bada, the race remains open for the 12 other aspirants, whose prospects now depend on strategic alliances and potential endorsements from the state and national leadership of the APC.

The July 12 local government elections are expected to be fiercely contested, particularly in Kosofe Local Government Area, where political alignment and party loyalty remain key factors.
